What is Pink Amethyst?
Pink amethyst is a variety of quartz that exhibits a pink to lavender hue due to the presence of iron impurities in its chemical composition. The chemical composition of pink amethyst is primarily silicon dioxide (SiO2) with traces of iron that give it its pink coloration. Pink amethyst is typically found in regions with significant quartz deposits, such as Brazil and Uruguay. Mining locations for pink amethyst include the Minas Gerais region in Brazil and the Artigas Department in Uruguay, where it is extracted and processed for use in jewelry and decorative objects. The presence of iron is actually the same reason we find red amethyst. We have one incredible specimen here. If you would like to learn more about amethyst, click here.
