What is Red Amethyst?

Red amethyst is formed through a combination of geological processes that involve the presence of iron and hematite inclusions. The formation of red amethyst typically begins with the deposition of silica-rich fluids in cavities or fractures within rocks. These fluids contain dissolved iron and other trace elements that contribute to the coloration of the amethyst. Over time, as the silica-rich fluids cool and crystallize, quartz crystals begin to grow. If hematite particles are present in the surrounding environment, they can become trapped within the growing quartz crystals, leading to the formation of red amethyst with its distinctive reddish hue. This process of crystallization and inclusion trapping results in the unique and rare gemstone known as red amethyst. If you would like to learn more about amethyst, click here.

Did you know that there are actually colorless forms of amethyst out there? We hope to bring those to you in the near future.

This red amethyst cluster is a WYSIWYG.
