A Little About Azurite & Malachite
As you may know, these two stones often grow together. But why?
Azurite and malachite often grow together because they are both secondary copper minerals that form in the same geological environments. They are commonly found in oxidized copper ore deposits where copper minerals have been altered by weathering processes. Azurite forms in the presence of carbon dioxide and water, while malachite forms when carbon dioxide reacts with copper minerals. The presence of these specific conditions, along with the availability of copper and other necessary elements, allows for the simultaneous growth of azurite and malachite in the same location. This is why these two minerals are frequently found together in nature. Learn more about azurite and malachite here and here.
These azurite & malachite specimens are WYSIWYGs.
For those who are unfamiliar with WYSIWYG, it means: What You See Is What You Get. Pieces identified as WYSIWYGs are not a random pull of stones that are similar to the one(s) pictured. Instead, you receive the actual piece that is pictured.
