Learn About Carborundum
It is a form of silicon carbide, or SiC. There are natural forms of silicon carbide, but this is not one of them. This form was originally created in the late 1800s when a man decided to try to create artificial diamonds. It is said this was the result. It is noted on Mindat.org that this is a byproduct of iron production. If you would like to learn more, click this link.
