One of our favorite suggestions for using prehnite with epidote tumbles in gemstone décor is to add them to a crystal or glass plate, bowl, vase, or other container. You can layer them or use them to surround figurines or other display pieces, too. With all of the colors and variation available in gemstone tumbles and chips, there is almost always a complementary or accent color that will suit your personal style, Southwestern or otherwise.
About Prehnite & Epidote
Did you know that there are at least 2 tourmaline-shaped that are commonly found with prehnite that are NOT black tourmaline? In some cases, it is epidote. In others, it is a form of amphibole, often considered actinolite, but could be other members of the amphibole supergroup. Usually, if you know the exact mining location, you will be able to tell whether it is epidote or actinolite. Much of what is found more recently is epidote. They are never black tourmaline, as they are not known to grow together.
