Our raw amethyst piece has black inclusions and a few clearly defined crystal formations. Amethyst can be used in as beautiful décor or a great addition to any gemstone collection. This lovely piece is approximately 1.125″ long and about 24.49g.

What are the Black Inclusions in Amethyst?

Common inclusions that appear black in raw amethyst specimens include hematite, goethite, manganese oxide, and other mineral impurities. These dark-colored inclusions can create striking contrast within the purple quartz of amethyst crystals. Hematite, for example, is a common iron oxide mineral that can appear as black or dark red-brown inclusions in amethyst. Goethite, another iron oxide mineral, can also manifest as black inclusions in amethyst. Manganese oxide impurities can contribute to black spots or streaks in amethyst crystals. These dark inclusions add character and uniqueness to each amethyst specimen, enhancing the beauty and visual interest of the gemstone.
