What is Gibbsite?

Gibbsite, a hydrated aluminum hydroxide mineral, can form in various ways due to its flexibility in crystal structure and composition. It commonly occurs as a secondary mineral in bauxite deposits, resulting from the weathering of aluminum-rich rocks. The growth of gibbsite is influenced by factors like temperature, pressure, and the presence of certain chemicals in its environment. The lovely blue coloration of gibbsite is attributed to the presence of trace elements, such as copper or manganese, which can substitute for aluminum in its crystal lattice. These impurities impart the striking blue hues to the mineral. If you would like to learn more about gibbsite, click this link.

For those who are unfamiliar with WYSIWYG, it means: What You See Is What You Get. Pieces identified as WYSIWYGs are not a random pull of stones that are similar to the one(s) pictured. Instead, you receive the actual piece that is pictured.
