One of our favorite suggestions for using unakite tumbles in gemstone décor is to add them to a crystal or glass plate, bowl, vase, or other container. You can layer them or use them to surround figurines or other display pieces, too. With all of the colors and variation available in gemstone tumbles and chips, there is almost always a complementary or accent color that will suit your personal style, Southwestern or otherwise.
Learn More About Unakite
Unakite is a type of igneous rock that is composed of pink orthoclase feldspar, green epidote, and quartz. The chemical composition of unakite consists of potassium aluminum silicate (orthoclase feldspar), calcium aluminum iron silicate (epidote), and silicon dioxide (quartz). Unakite is formed through the metamorphism of granite, where pink orthoclase feldspar and green epidote are altered and combined over time to create the distinctive mottled appearance of unakite. Unakite is primarily mined in regions with significant granite deposits, such as the United States (specifically North Carolina), South Africa, Brazil, and China. Mining operations extract unakite from quarries and mines, where it is then processed and used in various applications, including jewelry, decorative objects, and lapidary work.
