One of our favorite suggestions for using gemstone tumbles in gemstone décor is to add them to a crystal or glass plate, bowl, vase, or other container. You can layer them or use them to surround figurines or other display pieces, too. With all of the colors and variation available in gemstone tumbles and chips, there is almost always a complementary or accent color that will suit your personal style, Southwestern or otherwise.
A Bit About Dragon Blood Jasper
Dragon blood jasper is a type of chalcedony that typically consists of a green matrix with red to reddish-brown patterns or spots. The green color in dragon blood jasper is caused by the presence of chlorite, while the red coloration is due to the inclusion of iron minerals. The chemical composition of dragon blood jasper includes silicon dioxide (SiO2) as the main component, along with various impurities such as iron, aluminum, and other trace elements that give the stone its unique coloration and patterns. The combination of these elements results in the distinctive appearance of dragon blood jasper. Although there is some debate about its chemical components, it also said to include epidote and red piemontite. If you would like to learn more about epidote, click here.
