We have 4 lovely pieces available. They each have their own unique patterns and levels of adularescence (their unique shine). Choose your favorite today!

Moonstone Facts

Did you know that moonstone is not considered an approved mineral species? Here’s a brief quote from mindat.org (https://www.mindat.org/min-2774.html):

“A trade name for any white feldspar with a blue schiller.
Commonly microcline, rarely orthoclase, and the plagioclase series. Also includes albite with its variety peristerite.
Antiperthite and anorthoclase may also show schiller.”

Brown moonstone is a variety of the mineral feldspar, specifically belonging to the orthoclase group. Its chemical composition is primarily made up of potassium aluminum silicate, with the formula KAlSi3O8. The brown coloration in moonstone is typically caused by the presence of iron or other trace elements within the crystal structure. Moonstone is known for its unique adularescence, which is a phenomenon where light scatters off microscopic inclusions within the stone, creating a soft glow or sheen. Brown moonstone is valued for its earthy tones and can be found in various locations around the world, including India, Madagascar, and the United States.
